The main responsibilities for this position are:
* Prospecting for new project opportunities;
* Evaluation of project sites and technical assessment of land procurement;
* Assessment of natural gas, wind or solar resource;
* Management of all required permitting processes, environment and health and safety requirements, including relationship with related authorities, agencies and municipalities;
* Management of social and community stakeholder engagement and issue resolution;
* Management of all required regulatory processes to obtain project interconnection;
* Evaluation and recommendation of the conceptual configuration, design features, electrical interconnection and performance working with the company's engineering team;
* Development of project technical scope documents in consultation with the company's engineering team;
* Support of the company's engineering team in the selection and specification of major equipment;
* Estimation of development capital and operating costs for project proforma in consultation with the company's engineering, construction and operations teams;
* Support for selection of EPC contractor and negotiation of EPC contracts;
* Support the assessment of O&M requirements and negotiation of O&M contracts in
consultation with the company's operations team;
* Manage execution of supporting technical studies by third parties during project development;
* Interfacing with and managing technical consultants and advisors;
* Other duties as assigned.
Perfil del candidato
* Engineering degree, with a preference for mechanical or electrical engineering, and professional engineering designation;
* Minimum of 5 years of direct and proven experience in either thermal and/or renewable power development, either in the design and engineering of renewable power projects or in related implementation and construction;
* Proven infrastructure project management experience in Mexico or Latin America, with a strong preference for power plant experience;
* Strong understanding and experience in the process from land acquisition to permitting, through to construction, implementation and operations;
* Strong understanding and experience in the regulatory process for project interconnections in Mexico;
* Working understanding of project economic valuation and analytic;
* Working knowledge of contract and agreement language pertaining to equipment supply and
project construction;
* Working knowledge of environmental and regulatory permit compliance, regulatory restrictions and application to renewable energy projects;
* Strong project management skills, with a broad understanding of planning and scheduling, progress reporting, contracting terms, issues and change management, etc.;
* Good understanding of project cost management and control and related components of project finances (interest during construction, letters of credit etc.);
* Exceptional decision making, negotiation, communication, and presentation skills, demonstrating a strategic, objective and commercial approach to challenges and opportunities;
* Decisions must be made with sound technical and risk judgment and strong commercial acumen taking into consideration cost and/or schedule impact;
* Ability to react to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently;
* Exemplary integrity and teamwork; values the sharing of information and common goals;
* Sense of urgency, self-motivated, pro-active, and a disciplined doer with high energy and stamina;
* Results oriented with the ability to prioritize and deliver key initiatives;
* Demonstrates a knowledge of and appreciation for the benefits of system integration for tracking,
monitoring, and reporting;
* Strong relationship skills and experience interfacing effectively with local regulatory authorities, contractors, suppliers, consultants;
* Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; relates to a variety of styles and can build trust and consensus in a team;
* Experience working with a multinational company in Latin America would be valuable;
* Fluent in Spanish and English, both in speaking and writing, and capable of interacting with Spanish speaking technical specialists;
* Excellent report writing, presentation, and communication skills and capable of engaging and influencing stakeholders in both languages.
